About Biscoitos
Biscoitos is a parish of the Praia da Vitória municipality on Terceira's north coast, named after the "biscoitos" — fields of black lava left by ancient eruptions. It is famous for its natural swimming pools carved into volcanic rock, for the Verdelho dos Biscoitos wineries (one of the oldest grape varieties in the Azores, with its stone-walled currais UNESCO-listed) and for the Wine Museum. The north-coast waves and rural atmosphere make it a unique destination on Terceira.
