About São Roque do Pico
São Roque do Pico is one of the three municipalities on Pico island, set on its north coast, with the small Cais do Pico harbour as its historic centre. This was once home to one of the largest whaling factories in the Azores, now restored as the Whaling Industry Museum. The municipality offers privileged views of Mount Pico (Portugal's highest peak) and of São Jorge island, and includes some of the most beautiful UNESCO-listed lava vineyards.
