About Madalena
Madalena is the main gateway to Pico island, with a harbour facing the Faial channel and the iconic Deitado and Em Pé islets. The municipality covers the whole western and southern coast of the island and includes the Landscape of the Pico Island Vineyard Culture, a UNESCO World Heritage site — a patchwork of black stone currais where the Pico vine grows to produce the famous Verdelho wine. The Wine Museum and wineries are must-sees.
