About Portimão
Portimão is the Algarve's second largest city, at the mouth of the Arade River, with a historic centre closely linked to the fish canning tradition — today told in the Portimão Museum, set inside a former sardine cannery. The city is the gateway to Praia da Rocha, one of the Algarve's most iconic beaches, and to the Algarve International Circuit. Its marina is the starting point for boat trips to the Benagil sea caves and dolphin-watching in the Atlantic. Don't miss the grilled sardines, star of the local cuisine.
