About Aljezur

Aljezur is the northernmost municipality of the Algarve, facing the wild Atlantic of the Costa Vicentina and fully within the Southwest Alentejo and Vicentine Coast Natural Park. The village is dominated by its Moorish-era castle and whitewashed houses rolling down to the stream. Its beaches — Arrifana, Monte Clérigo, Amoreira, Carriagem and Vale Figueiras — are wild, battered by Atlantic swell and a surfers' paradise. The Aljezur sweet potato, with EU Protected Geographical Indication status, is a local speciality not to miss.
