About Vila do Conde
Vila do Conde is a historic fishing town at the mouth of the Ave river, with an old quarter dominated by the imposing Santa Clara Monastery and its 999-arch aqueduct, one of the longest in the Iberian Peninsula. The traditional shipyard, where replicas of 16th-century naus are still built, recalls the town's role in the Age of Discoveries. Azurara Beach, the marina and the São João Baptista Fort make Vila do Conde a distinctive seaside destination facing its neighbour Póvoa de Varzim.
