About Nazaré
Nazaré is world-famous for the giant waves at Praia do Norte, generated by the Nazaré Canyon — a 230 km long underwater gorge. Take the century-old funicular up to Sítio da Nazaré to visit the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré, the São Miguel Arcanjo Fort (with its surf museum) and the Suberco viewpoint. On the town beach you can still see fishermen's wives in their traditional seven-skirt outfit drying fish in the sun, and the local canned fish is a must-try.
