About Braga
Braga is one of Portugal's oldest cities, heir to the Roman Bracara Augusta and now the capital of the Minho region. Its historic centre combines the Cathedral — the oldest in the country — with Baroque squares, churches and palaces. Just outside town, the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary is a UNESCO World Heritage site with its monumental stairway, and the Sameiro Sanctuary offers sweeping views over the whole region. Braga is also a vibrant university city, repeatedly ranked among Europe's youngest and most dynamic.
