Barrancos is Portugal's most isolated village — surrounded by Spanish territory on three sides, it has its own unique dialect blending Portuguese and Spanish and a traditional bullfighting practice found nowhere else in Portugal. The surrounding dehesa woodland is prime habitat for the Iberian lynx and the black stork.
